Baby bluebirds are humming alongComing soon! We have been watching the activity in the box since February. The parents were definitely taking nesting materials in and recently I was pretty sure food was being taken in too. Today I saw both parents going in and out frequently and each time the chirping in the box got louder and more excited. Then I saw the father take away a white item - either the shell or the poop sac (they keep the nest very clean). So there are little ones in there and it's time to keep our eyes on the box, especially in the morning. Here are a couple of images from today. Looks like spiders are on the menu for dinner! The male on the power line was not the father but another male that got too close and was chased away by the father. A very protective dad! I also finally got a fun shot of the hummingbird at the fuchsia plant. Gotta be fast and have a very long lens! Just before I took these shots it was much sunnier and had the sun not ducked behind the approaching rain clouds the bird wings would have had better definition. Maybe next time...stay tuned!
