Artist Statement

As a musician, I have been training my ears all my life to be sensitive to the beauty in our world through the color, texture, form, and dynamics of music.  Through photography, I am developing my eye and I see color, texture, tone, and dynamics, in a whole new light. Photography offers me the opportunity to slow down, be present, and see beauty in things small and large that I might have otherwise missed. I strive to create images that express my interpretation of the places and things that I find beautiful or interesting, be it an entire scene or a very small detail of it. I enjoy nature, travel, and landscape photography hoping to capture what is unique about the place and give the viewer a sense of being there with me.”

About Me

In addition to being an avid photographer, I am a flutist and music educator. I have a deep interest in genealogy, history, and languages. I also enjoy yoga, reading, cooking, biking, spending time in nature, and traveling. Photography has been a long-time interest and I began pursuing it seriously in 2007. Since that time I have had the privilege of studying with Freeman Patterson, Richard Martin, Andre' Gallant, Alison Shaw, Eddie Soloway, Mark Bowie, Doug Chinnery, and Valda Bailey, and have taken a variety of classes and workshops at the Flower City Arts Center in Rochester, NY and with Rochester photographer Gary Thompson. I find additional inspiration in the work of a wide variety of photographers including the late Nancy Rotenberg and many of my colleagues and friends.

I live in Macedon with my husband, musician, composer, and teacher Harvey Possemato. Please check out his music at http://www.harveyband.com/

My Gear and Process

I enjoy creating images using a variety of techniques such as Intentional Camera Movement (ICM) and In-Camera Multiple Exposures (ME) which allows me to use my camera like a paintbrush.

Currently, I shoot primarily with a pair of Fuji X-T4s and a variety of Fuji lenses. I also own and still use a Canon 5D Mark 3 and four Canon lenses. I also enjoy using Lensbaby and other quirky, third-party lenses to give my images a painterly look.

Images are post-processed with LightRoom and Photoshop on a Macintosh computer.
